There is no doubt: The time for girls—and girls’ schools around the world—is now. In recent years, people across the globe have come together to support one another and to develop creative solutions for navigating this new world. Our girls’ school students have had the unique opportunity to witness global changemaking happening in real time on an unparalleled scale. What is most inspiring is that so much of the change and progress has been directed by girls and women. Girls’ schools provide unique benefits that catalyze important progress, and the people who power those schools help to prepare the young leaders of today to embrace all of the opportunities and challenges that lie before them.

Many of the world’s most gifted educators and professionals are found working in girls’ schools. With more than 550 member schools, the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools is a richly diverse network of schools in every sector in more than 25 countries. Join us in this important work! Interim Head of School

SOLA - School of Leadership, Afghanistan

Posted: Oct. 23, 2025

Rwanda

If you are a mission-driven educator with a strong commitment to girls education who yearns for a more impactful role, this may be the most remarkable leadership opportunity anywhere in the world today. And it is available immediately!

Founded in 2016 in Kabul, Afghanistan, SOLA is a boarding school for Afghan girls. On August 15, 2021, a summer of relentless violence culminated in the fall of Kabul and the Taliban’s return to power. On that day, SOLA’s founder Shabana Basij-Rasikh closed and locked SOLA’s gates for the last time.

Now operating in Rwanda, SOLA provides a comprehensive academic, social-emotional, and cultural educational experience for 100 boarding students. With the move to a newly constructed campus planned for June 2026, that number will more than double. SOLA is creating a movement—a network of compassionate, confident young Afghan women prepared to return home and rebuild their homeland. The girls the school educates today will be the leaders Afghanistan needs tomorrow. The interim Head of School will be instrumental in preparing this very special community to put down roots in its new home.

If you are inspired by a school that offers a truly transformational experience for young women, please reach out for more information.
