Help Desk Technician

Summary
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is seeking a Help Desk Technician to provide exceptional technical support and help maintain the school’s technology infrastructure. Reporting to the Director of Technology, this role supports users with hardware, software, and network troubleshooting; manages the Mac-based 1:1 laptop program (including on-site repairs and off-site coordination); and administers servers, user accounts, email systems, backups, and internet connectivity. The technician also maintains technology inventory and documentation, and supports a wide range of devices including printers, mobile devices, projectors, and scanners.

Essential Job Functions
– Provide friendly, efficient, and responsive technical support to students, teachers, and staff members.
– Install, maintain, repair, configure, and refresh hardware and software to established standards for up to 500 student, faculty, staff, and loaner computer systems using Mosyle mobile device management and other tools.
– Assist and train users in the operation of computers and common applications such as word processing, email, web browsers, and productivity and creative software.
– Set up and support classroom monitoring tools such as Apple Classroom.
– Provide educational technology support, integration guidance, and training to students and teachers.
– Troubleshoot day-to-day student and faculty computer issues.
– Perform computer repairs as needed using Apple’s GSX system for parts ordering and process management.
– Provide technology support for hardware and software throughout the school, coordinating with vendors as needed and managing support tickets.
– Periodically monitor student laptop use for appropriate behavior and compliance with school technology policies.
– Document and follow up on student infractions related to tech policies, including parent communication and participation in student meetings as required.
– Assist with new teacher tech training and new student orientation sessions.
– Stay current on best practices and trends in technology management through training, workshops, seminars, and professional reading.
– Work with the student Tech Team under the direction of the Director of Technology to provide instruction and mentorship.
– Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing network and equipment problems, including installation and configuration of switches, routers, hubs, and other network hardware.
– Support system documentation, software testing, and deployment rollouts.
– Assist the Director of Technology and Network Administrator as needed.
– Troubleshoot Apple computers, iOS devices, Chromebooks, printers, presentation hardware (Legamaster, Apple TVs, and Tango Boards), and other technology-related equipment.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
– College degree preferred.
– Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting Macintosh and PC hardware, software, and system administration.
– Working knowledge of macOS, Windows, Google Workspace, and printers/copiers.
– Experience managing a fleet of devices using tools such as Mosyle MDM (or similar), DeployStudio, Apple Profile Manager, Munki, Apple Remote Desktop, or scripting.
– Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office products.
– High level of integrity, professionalism, patience, and attention to detail.
– Strong customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
– Ability to assist users with varying levels of technology proficiency.
– Demonstrated ability to interact cooperatively, courteously, and professionally with students, teachers, and colleagues.
– Ability to work independently, anticipate workload, set priorities, and complete tasks on time.
– Ability to provide Windows support preferred.
– Experience working with a variety of academic technologies, including integration and training, preferred.
– Experience with Blackbaud’s “On Suite” preferred.
– Google Apps Level 1 or Level 2 certification and/or Google Trainer certification preferred.
– Familiarity with wired and wireless networking and basic infrastructure concepts.
– Basic understanding of networking protocols and ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
– Experience working with Student Information Systems (SIS), preferably Blackbaud
