R.E.A.L.® Discussion – ICGS Pilot Cohort

Academic/Curriculum Leaders and Humanities Teachers from around the globe are invited to join a cohort of ICGS educators to pilot R.E.A.L.® Discussion: the first research-backed program for teaching, measuring, and celebrating discussion skills among students who would rather text than talk!

ICGS has secured this special opportunity for member schools to pilot the program in early 2024. This Pilot opportunity includes PD, student materials, impact assessment, strategy consultation, and peer learning – and will focus specifically on the challenges girls face in using their voices. Space is very limited; please sign up by January 17, 2024.

Overview

Interested schools should nominate one Academic Leader and one Humanities Teacher to participate in the Pilot Cohort. The Academic Leader should have curricular oversight, while the Teacher must be ready to try out R.E.A.L. ® Discussion three times in their classroom within two months of training. The Pilot experience includes:

  • Virtual Professional Learning: Join colleagues from around the world to get certified in R.E.A.L.® Discussion through two live workshops – January 22 and 29, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. ET – and two hours of asynchronous coursework. Expect to dream big, get tactical, and laugh hard!
  • Customized Strategy + Instructional Coaching Sessions: Participants will each receive one-on-one support following the initial training. For teachers, this session will be used to focus on a launch plan, how to fit R.E.A.L. ® in with what you’re already doing in your classroom! For administrators, this session may be used to envision a broader program aligned to strategic goals.
  • Student Materials: Teachers will receive R.E.A.L.® Discussion materials to use with up to 20 students.
  • Impact Assessment: Teachers will receive a Dashboard that shows student growth throughout one discussion cycle (three discussions). This data may be shared with administrators.
  • Professional Learning Community: Teachers and Administrators will be invited to R.E.A.L. ® Discussion PLC’s for the Spring, which cover topics ranging from Rubric Design to AI Strategy.
