November 17, 2022: Building an Effective Board

Topics to consider: orientation, on-boarding and mentoring set the stage for building  an effective board.  How to balance governance and generative work and find a good  place on the bus for every board member? How does continuing board education nest in an effective board? Committing to on-going board stewardship. Creating board data book to help inform policy and using  task forces for generative areas– examples such as financial sustainability task force and the strategic horizon taskforce


December 8, 2022: Financial Sustainability, Enrollment, and Marketing

Topics to consider: strategic financial planning; personnel benefits; enrollment management; tuition assistance including financial aid and merit awards; deferred maintenance; partnerships; facilities management; auxiliary programs


January 12, 2023: Doing and Measuring DEIB work

Topics to consider: DEIB work and the board and creating effective KPIs for progress on these critically important goals; how, as a board, to build a road map and measure success; continuing board education


February 16, 2023: Campaigns and Fundraising

Topics to consider: campus master planning; campaign counsel; feasibility studies; women’s philanthropy; endowment fundraising vs capital fundraising strategy; grant writing; planned giving; making your case for support


April 6, 2023: Health and Wellness

Topics to consider: communicating with the board to keep them abreast of operations; communication – crisis and systematic – what is most effective, legally sound, and what helps build community? How do you move at the speed of trust? Building a team of advisors.
