2022-2023 Schedule and Topics

Headways™ for Advancement & Development Professionals is facilitated by Merritt Colaizzi, Director of Advancement at Miss Hall’s School.

All meetings will occur from 5-6 p.m. ET. / 9-10 p.m. GMT.


This cohort is open to all Advancement, Development, and Alumnae Relations positions including but not limited to VPs, Heads, Directors, Assistant Directors, Managers, Associates, Coordinators, etc.


October 6, 2022: What has changed?

Essential question: What are our fundraising takeaways with respect to the global pandemic, culture wars, and civil unrest?

Homework in advance: Read the 2021 Giving USA summary and be ready to discuss how your school lines up or bucks the trends.


November 17, 2022: Accelerating Technology

Essential question: How has your Advancement team capitalized on the rapid adoption of new technologies and platforms — either directly or indirectly— in the past two years?

Homework in advance: Come prepared with at least one recent tech success story and/or one failed foray.


January 5, 2023: Recession Ahead

Essential question: How are we innovating or pivoting to combat the upcoming economic slowdown?

Homework in advance: Come prepared to discuss one outside-the-box idea, forward-thinking collaboration, or institutional innovation at the leadership or departmental level that could change the financial trajectory of your school.


February 16, 2023: Nuts, Bolts, & Inspiration

Essential question: In what areas do you need help, collegial counsel, or collective wisdom?

Homework in advance: Come prepared to untangle at least one professional knot you are experiencing. This is your chance to tap the collective braintrust of this extraordinary group of professionals!


April 6, 2023: Rising Tides

Essential question: How can we support each other going forward?

Homework in advance: Consider loose ends from this Headways Series and opportunities for continued collaboration.  What might that look like?
