Dorothy Martindale

Meet Dorothy, a dedicated advocate with a decade-long commitment to girls’ and women’s empowerment. In her role, Dorothy supports the Coalition’s marketing, communications, event coordination, and member experiences. Her focus is to amplify member schools’ initiatives, share culturally-relevant resources, and educate families and funders on the girls’ school advantage.

For the last 10 years, Dorothy has worked alongside committed and confident women to empower the next generation of grown-up girls. Prior to joining the Coalition, Dorothy worked for a national nonprofit focused on girls’ social and emotional well-being. There she supported the launch of their research and training initiatives, honing her skills in strategic planning, project management, and marketing. Previously she provided member services in a professional association, coordinating continuing education and professional development.

Beyond her technical skills, it is Dorothy’s personal connection to this work that drives her. As an aunt to two girls, she gets a front row seat to the joys and challenges of girlhood. To live lives of confidence and contribution, girls need gender-responsive support, inclusive communities, and leadership opportunities. Dorothy is thrilled to work for the leading advocate for girls’ schools, who are providing these conditions for girls and women everywhere.

Dorothy received her B.S. in Social Work from The Ohio State University and maintains her LSW (Licensed Social Worker) designation. She lives with her husband, lab mix, and cat in Columbus, Ohio.
